Emergency First Aid at Work (3-day course)

Holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can act as first aiders in the workplace, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This teaches the first aider how to provide effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort. The course has an emphasis on dealing with life threatening situations and keeping the patient alive until help arrives. Students will learn a high level of practical skills and theoretical knowledge, so that they can deal competently with any situation that may arise in the working environment.

This 3 day course includes:

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • The respiratory system

  • Care of the airway

  • Care of the unconscious patient

  • The circulatory system

  • Control of bleeding

  • Treatment of burns and scalds

  • Treatment of shock

  • Recognition and treatment of common medical conditions Treatment of poisoning

  • The skeletal system

  • Treatment of injuries to bones, muscles and joints

  • Accident reporting and First Aid at Work regulations

First Aid at Work (2-day refresher course) 

All first aiders must re-qualify original certification within 3 years and should undertake 3-hour refresher courses annually. The course has a high level of practical skill and theoretical knowledge, so the first aider can continue to deal promptly and effectively with any situation which may arise in their work environment.

Our First Aid at Work course covers:

  • Any new changes to legislation

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • The respiratory system

  • Care of the airway

  • Care of the unconscious patient

  • Control of bleeding

  • Treatment of burns and scalds

  • Treatment of shock

  • Treatment of common medical conditions

  • Treatment of poisoning

  • Treatment of injuries to bones, muscles and joints

Emergency First Aid at Work (1-day course)

The course is designed for medium risk companies of up to 20 employees. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions. This course is ideal for small teams, working away from central workplace, where a fully qualified First Aider is not required.

This first aid training covers:

  • Communication and delegation in an emergency

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • Heart attacks

  • Care of the airway

  • Choking

  • Care of the unconscious patient

  • Spinal injuries

  • Eye injuries

  • Control of bleeding

  • Treatment of burns and scalds

  • Epilepsy

  • Diabetes

  • Poisons

Basic first aid 3-hour course

The aims and objectives of the first aid (basic) training course are to teach people emergency life support which can keep someone alive in a life-threatening emergency until professional help arrives. This short 3-hour course is ideal for people working in low risk environments such as shops, offices and libraries, though each course will be tailored to your workplace. Basic first aid 3-hour course includes:

  • Care of the unconscious patient

  • Care of the airway

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

  • Dealing with a heart attack

  • Dealing with choking

  • Control of bleeding

  • Dealing with anaphylactic reactions

Annual refresher (3-hour) update course

This course is a refresher to keep people's first aid knowledge up to date. It is designed to make sure people remain confident with the fundamentals of first aid, but also to go over any changes in procedure that may have bene implemented since their past course.

The refresher course includes:

  • Any changes

  • Care of the unconscious patient

  • Care of the airway

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • Dealing with a heart attack

  • Dealing with choking

  • Control of bleeding

  • Dealing with anaphylactic shock

Paediatric first aid (2-day course)

Approved by the National Childminders Association and the Pre-school Learning Alliance, this course is designed for people who look after children under 8 years of age. The course fully complies with the requirements of Ofsted and Surestart for the first aid training of Childminders. Courses can be conducted either at a crèche or nursery of your choice or at our modern purpose-built conference suites in Bangor.

Our paediatric first aid syllabus covers:

  • Coping with an emergency in the childcare environment

  • The priorities of treatment

  • Resuscitation: adult, child and infant

  • Unconsciousness: adult, child and infant

  • Choking: adult, child and infant

  • Croup

  • Drowning

  • Control of bleeding and treatment of minor injuries, with emphasis on children and infants

  • Treatment of burns and scalds

  • Electric shock

  • Poisoning including smoke inhalation

  • Eye injuries

  • Treatment of fractures, with emphasis on children and infants

  • General paediatric medical conditions: asthma, anaphylaxis and diabetes

  • Epilepsy, febrile convulsions, sickle cell and meningitis.

Forestry First Aid +F 

Forestry first aid +F course includes:

This Forestry First Aid qualification is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers. Successful learners will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed to treat a range of injuries and diseases that could occur in these environments. 

  • Extreme cold

  • Extreme heat

  • Treatment for Adder snake bites

  • Catastrophic bleeding, which includes direct pressure, tourniquets and haemostatic agents

  • Crush injuries 

  • Lyme disease
